Successful treatment of ‘Aortic Aneurysm’ in Ctg without surgery

Aortic Aneurysm a team of doctors from Chattogram has successfully completed the treatment of this complex disease without any surgery. Evercare Hospital in Chattogram accomplished this rare and complex medical procedure using Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair. This is the fourth time in the country and the first time outside the capital that the hospital has used this method. Recently, such treatment is used in the body of Niaz Ahmed Chowdhury, 72, which cost Tk 7.5 lakh.

The treatment was successfully completed with the joint efforts of Dr. Ashish Dey, a senior consultant in the Department of Interventional Cardiology, and a few members of the anesthesia team led by Dr. Mohammad Fazle Maruf, senior consultant in the Thoracic Surgery and Cardiovascular Department of the hospital.

Dr. Fazle Maruf said the disease is basically “asymptomatic”. People with this disease may feel pain in the abdomen and chest, likely to increase the blood pressure, as a result, the disease is riskier than any common disease. The disease can be detected by abdominal CT scan, USG or APR. However, treatment is very important after detection.

Aortic Aneurysms are usually treated with surgery, however, now it is possible to treat this rare and complex disease in a special and modern way like Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair, Dr. Fazle Maruf also said, adding that this method has been used successfully “three times” before in the country. This was used for the fourth time.

Dr. Ashish Dey said if any part of the artery in the body becomes “abnormally large”, it is called Aortic Aneurysm. It is a rare disease. Besides this, the risk of “diabetes and high blood pressure” is relatively high. It can also be “congenital”. About 32-68 percent of those with the disease have an Aneurysm Rupture – which increases the risk of death. As a result, it is not a disease to be neglected at all. Still, most people are unaware of this disease. So, it is important to be aware.
