Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has said that there is no evidence that Ziaur Rahman directly fought the war of liberation. The Prime Minister made the remarks while participating in a discussion meeting organized by Dhaka Metropolitan Awami League on the occasion of National Mourning Day on Thursday.

Sheikh Hasina said although there is no grave of former president and BNP founder Ziaur Rahman in Chandrima Udyan the BNP men went there and caused chaos. Prime Minister said Ziaur Rahman was the main force behind the murderer Mushtaq.

She added that Ziaur Rahman never believed in the independence and existence of the country; he was taken and the declaration of liberation war was read out. Even after Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman declared independence, Ziaur Rahman served as a member of the Pakistani army.
