Model Piyasha-Mou detained; foreign liquor, yaba seized

Detective Branch (DB) of police have detained model and former TV presenter Faria Mahbub Piyasha and model Mou Akter following separate raids at their residences in the capital on Sunday night. Mohidul Islam, additional deputy commissioner of Cyber and Special Crime Department of DB confirmed the information.

He said that a DB team started the drive tonight at Piyasha’s Baridhara residence and detained her during the drive. They also seized foreign liquor, shisha and yaba pills from the residence. Piyasha is the former wife of Apan Jewellers owner’s son Shafat Ahmed. She first came up in news reports after Shafat was made accused of raping two female private university students at The Raintree hotel in 2017.

Her name came up recently following the death by suicide of a college student at a Gulshan residence. Meanwhile, Harun-ur-Rashid, joint commissioner of DB (North Division) of DMP told reporters that Mou Akter was detained from her Mohammadpur residence during a separate drive tonight.

The two models were members of a blackmailing ring. They arranged drugs for young girls and boys and would take compromising photos of them. And later, they would blackmail them with those photos. Cases will be filed against the duo under Narcotics Control Act, Harunur said, adding that they will also investigate the allegations of blackmailing.
