22,000 meters of illegal nets including fish were seized in Kalapapara

Kalapara (Patuakhali) Representative: At Kalapara in Patuakhali, the Pigeon Port Naval Police have seized 22,000 meters of illegal behundi and dense hanging nets along with 5 different species of dead pona fish. The nets were seized during a raid at Rabnabad Channel and Andharamanik estuary from 9 am to 5 pm on Monday. The seized nets were later burnt in the helipad field of the municipal town.
Besides, the dead fry were distributed among the poor and helpless people. SI Shahidul Islam, in-charge of Payra Port Naval Police, Mahasin Reza, Upazila Fisheries Officer and ASI Mamun were also present. SI Shahidul Islam, in-charge of Payra Port Naval Police, said the nets were seized after a day-long operation. The naval police operation against illegal fishermen will continue.
