Govt decides to stop battery-powered rickshaws, vans

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today said a decision has been taken to stop running battery-powered rickshaws and vans across the country. “An order would be issued by the concerned ministry in this regard,” he said. He told reporters after a meeting of the National Task Force on Road Transport at the Secretariat in the capital on Sunday.
The Home Minister said battery-powered rickshaws and vans are running “recklessly”, as a result, many accidents took place even on highways. For this, the decision to stop battery-powered rickshaws and vans across the country was taken at today’s meeting.
