Central Shaheed Minar ready

Dhaka University has completed all the preparations for the observance of the Great Shaheed Dibosh and the International Mother Language Day.
In the meantime, the central Shaheed Minar has been washed and cleaned and various images have been painted. The sidewalls of the road including the main altar have been painted. Various songs, poems and slogans of the Language Movement are being decorated.
DU VC Prof. Dr. Akhtaruzzaman called upon all including students-teachers, officers-employees to observe the day with due dignity and maintain a solemn atmosphere for the purpose of paying homage.
Dhaka University (DU) authorities have undertaken a limited number of programs this year to celebrate the day due to coronavirus.
On the occasion of the Great Shaheed Dibosh and the International Mother Language Day, the DU authorities are responsible for arranging all the public homage ceremonies at the Central Shaheed Minar and Azimpur Cemetery.
This year also the Central Coordinating Committee and various sub-committees have been constituted for conducting the necessary activities for the observance of the day with due dignity and solemnity and for its smooth, orderly and peaceful implementation.
Considering the situation arising due to Covid-19, everyone who will come to the Central Shaheed Minar has to wear masks to celebrate the day properly. Besides, while maintaining social distance and following proper hygiene rules, a maximum of five representatives from each organization and a maximum of two at the individual level can lay wreaths at the Shaheed Minar. A route-map has been prepared for going to the Central Shaheed Minar and Azimpur Cemetery, which everyone is requested to follow properly.
