Bangladesh’s daily coronavirus cases hit record high at 2,523

This is the highest daily surge in coronavirus cases in Bangladesh since the first three cases were reported on March 8. Previous highest 2,029 cases were reported on Thursday. Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), came up with the disclosure in the daily online health bulletin in the afternoon.
She said 590 more patients recovered from COVID-19 disease in the last 24 hours, taking the number of people making recovery to 9,015. Prof Nasima said highest 11,301 samples were tested in 49 labs across the country during the period. With this, a total of 287,067 samples have so far been tested in the country. On Thursday, Bangladesh reported 15 deaths from coronavirus and record 2,029 cases.
Meanwhile, global coronavirus cases saw a further jump in the last 24 hours registering over 1.15 lakh more in different countries during the period. As of Friday morning, confirmed coronavirus cases have reached 5,906,202.The fatalities around the world have stood at 362,024, according to Worldometer. Of the currently infected 2,964,301 patients, 2,910,329 are in mild condition while 53,972 are in serious or critical condition.
So far, 2,579,877 people have made recovery from the disease in different countries. The US is the worst-hit country with highest deaths and coronavirus cases in the world — 103,330 and 1,768,461 respectively. Coronavirus is affecting over 213 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic on March 11.
