One killed; 30 houses vandalised, torched during Kishoreganj clash
One person was killed in a clash between two groups of people in Sadar upazila of Kishoreganj on Sunday. At least 30 houses were also looted, vadanlised and torched during the melee that lasted for three hours. Police said Rois Member and Parvez of Srimantapur village had long been at loggerheads over the ownership of a piece of land.
Both the groups locked into a clash on Sunday morning. They again engaged in the clash in the afternoon when they attacked each other with lethal weapons, leaving an unspecific number of people injured. The injured were taken to Mymesingh Medical College Hospital where Nurul Islam, a pedestrian, died.
As the death news spread around, at least 30 houses were looted, vandalised and torched at the village. On information, seven firefighting units rushed in and put out the fire. Members of Rapid Action Battalion and police brought the situation under control after three hours.
