Rajshahi put under lockdown
The local administration on Tuesday put Rajshahi under lockdown following the detection of two coronavirus cases in the district. Deputy Commissioner Hamidul Haque made the announcement in a public notice in the morning, UNB reports. According to the notice, a large number of people from Dhaka and Narayanganj, currently hotspots of Covid-19 transmission, are coming to the district.
So, the district was declared under lockdown following the suggestions of the civil surgeon and law enforcement agencies, it said. No one will be allowed to enter or leave the district during the lockdown. The plying of all modes of vehicles will also remain halted.
However, emergency services will remain out of the purview of the lockdown. Two people have so far been diagnosed with Covid-19 in Pathiya and Baghmara upazilas. Both of them returned from Dhaka and Narayanganj.
