UP Member beaten by Assistant Commissioner in Thakurgaon

he Assistant Commissioner (Land) in Thakurgaon’s Pirganj has allegedly beaten up a UP Member at Kalupir Bazar publicly on Friday evening. The UP Member was identified as Gaziur Rahman. According to the locals, UP member Gaziur Rahman along with police was conducting a campaign at Kalupir Bazar to make the people aware regarding coronavirus epidemic while the Assistant Commissioner appeared suddenly and beat him up publicly.
Later, the police rescued the UP Member and took him away. Avoid liability, the Assistant Commissioner Tarikul Islam said: “The UP Member was eating beside a road in the Bazar. For this, the law enforcers forced him to leave the place. That was a misunderstanding.” On the other hand, the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) said that the UP Member should have been beaten more in this regard.
