Let’s unite in the fight against coronavirus: Fakhrul

Describing the coronavirus as national and global disaster, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today called upon people irrespective of political and religious faiths to work together to curb and prevent the spread of the virus in the country.

“It is a national and global disaster and we all will have to fight against the spread of the virus in a collective way without panicking,” Fakhrul said at a press conference after a meeting of the party’s national standing committee held at its Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office in Dhaka this evening.

He also called upon the country’s businessmen to stand beside the people amid the disastrous situation without increasing prices of daily essentials.

The BNP leader urged the government to take an immediate step to provide effective training and adequate protective gears to doctors and nurses to deal with the spread of the virus.

Saying that the spread of the Covid-19 had badly affected the low- and middle-income groups, he said the government will have to arrange an emergency allowance for those hard hit to so they can meet their expenditure.
